NEW THIS WEEK
Stewardship Reflection
Mark 5:21-43 Prepared by Dr. Ven. M Pollesel
“Have faith”, says Jesus to Jairus. To the bleeding women he says,”you’ve been healed because of your faith.” How do you as a steward, live a life that shows your faith?
Choir Practice Notice
Choir has finished their Friday rehearsals for the summer. There will be no choir rehearsal until September. Watch this space for further announcements when choir rehearsals will resume.
Sue Hall
It is with much sadness that we announce that Sue passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, June 24th. Ann Adair-Austin was with her and prayed over her as she took her last breaths. She is now at peace and in the arms of our loving God, knowing that she lived in faith and did her very best to fulfill His will. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”
Her funeral and Celebration of life service will be held at St John’s on Saturday July 6 at 11 am.

High Tea – Thursday August 15, 1 – 3 pm
One of the main fundraisers for the church, this event is for friends and family of the Parish.
As it was a hit last year with the “Bring Your Own China”, we will be doing this again this year. We invite you to bring your personal teapots, cup & saucers, and 3 tier serving stands and these should be brought on the day of the tea. You are encouraged to “buy a table” of 4s, 6s or 8s for your family or besties.
Tickets will be on sale in mid-July at $40, and as it is limited to only 60 seats, you may want to reserve yours from Antoinette at toni.woodman@shaw.ca or Sue Meredith at smeredith@shaw.ca
If anyone who has 3 tier serving stands that we can borrow, it will be very much appreciated. Please contact Ferne mfernem@icloud.com or Ann cannadairaustin@gmail.com
Update from the ReSponse Committee
The Syrian family that arrived in August 2023 sends a Big Thank You to St John’s Church for our monetary gift for supplies for their new baby girl. Deacon Pat Ratcliffe, who is the coordinator of the Deanery ReSponse Group, and I (Mary) went to visit them a couple of weeks ago. St. Laurence also had a cheque for the family and we gave them a beautiful layette put together by the Diocesan ACW. The family was so grateful for everything. We had a lovely visit and Pat and I were able to see and hold their little baby who was only two weeks old at the time. This family lives in Pitt Meadows in a one-bedroom basement suite which is very tight. They have been looking for a two-bedroom suite to rent in the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area. If anyone knows of one, please speak to myself (Mary Kyle), Laurie Fox, Karlis Kesans or Sheila De Vaal so we can pass on the information.
The other family that was sponsored by the group of 5 and supported by the ReSponse Team, arrived in May. The group of 5 supplied all the furnishings, groceries and start-up supplies as they also did with the family mentioned above and the original family back in 2018.
The family that arrived in June 2024 that many people in our church and St. Laurence supported with friendship and time, money, furnishings, etc. has settled in very well. It is always a joy to see them–they are such a happy, grateful family!

Bag Hunger
Access Youth, need our help. They are short of basic cooking staples and our Parish has committed to helping them. Show them you care with a donation of cooking oil (1 litre bottle) and/or salt.
We will run this challenge for June & July, and then we will switch to another 2 items they need for August and September… So, stay tuned.
Please pick up a brown paper bag at church to announce your pledge to support these families and bring it back with cooking oil and/or salt.
