NEW THIS WEEK

Stewardship Reflection

Prepared by Ven. Dr. M. Pollesel Mark 4:35-41

Would you get into a boat if you expected stormy weather? A faithful steward gets in, trusting that God will keep their journey safe.

Update on Vivian, with her permission, sharing this:

Health-wise – continuing on with immunotherapy treatments every 3 weeks and will likely be adding in a bone strengthening treatment soon. Have a few relatively minor side effects that I’m waiting on specialists to have a look at and continuing to gain strength and mobility (can now toddle a few feet without walker). Hospital bed has been taken away and daily health aide visits no longer needed as I can now confidently get upstairs to sleep and shower. All in all, happy with my progress and thank you to everyone who has continued to keep me and my healing in your thoughts and prayers – all y’all have been and continue to be essential to my journey!

From Ruby: I visited with Vivian and Bascom and for the first time since August, I actually saw her in person. Although quite a few metres apart, she appears to be happy, and cheerful. We exchanged a few pleasantries, and I am so glad to see her in good spirits.

From Rev Miranda thanks for the celebration on Trinity Sunday

So now, I pause to thank everyone who worked hard from the manicuring of the grounds to the preparation of the bathrooms, from the preparation of the food to the decoration of the church and the dining area, from the bulletin to the Bishop’s parking sign, from EfM to Confirmation, Altar Guild to the Choir and those who wrote three new hymns – it was a work of art and with a spirit of oneness, joy, peace and love. I felt so proud just being among you all and to be the servant-leader walking alongside you at this time. Despite the all night and day rain, attendance was good. It showed dedication and commitment of both members and guests. We look forward to the rest of the events on the calendar. God be praised.

Coffee Plus…Wednesday, June 5, 10:00am

We would encourage any parish member who would be interested in a possible High Tea later this summer or in celebrating Senior’s Birthdays to join us as we discuss these possibilities.  If you have comments on either of these possibilities but not able to attend, please send your thoughts to Ferne at mfernem@gmail.com

Bag Hunger

Access Youth, who use the basement of the PMC for their food prep program, needs our help. They are short of basic cooking staples and our Parish has committed to help them. Show them you care with a donation of cooking oil (1 litre bottle) and/or salt.

We will run this challenge for June & July, and then we will switch to another 2 items they need for August and September… So, stay tuned.

Please pick up a brown paper bag at church to announce your pledge to support these families and bring it back with cooking oil and/or salt.

For info on who Access Youth is and what they do, please log in to: https://accessyouth.org/youth-gour-made/

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE PART OF ST JOHN’S

Vignettes from parishioners of the parish being offered throughout the year of the 125th Anniversary celebrations. If you are asked to offer one week, please accept so that we may get to know a bit more about our friends in the pews. Please forward a written copy to news@stja.ca thereafter. These will be posted in the E-Postle as well as a compilation for print later in the year.
