Traffic and Parking Changes on Douglas Street
With the development of the Edgestone Townhomes to the west of the church along Douglas Street comes new City of Port Moody parking restrictions. Because of the narrowness of the road, there is no parking during the week along the east side of Douglas between St. Johns and Clarke during construction. However, our parish has arranged an exemption with the City for Sundays. In the event of a larger gathering scheduled for a weekday, the parish will try to work with the bylaws office to seek temporary permits. On Sundays, please try to leave the space nearest the corner of St. Johns Street available for parishioners to drop off people with wheelchairs (the climb from the parking lot is a challenge).
Order of the Diocese of New Westminster Recipients Revealed
The 2018 list of recipients of the ODNW is now public, and St. Johns is so proud to announce that two of our own will be receiving this highest honour for lay ministry in the Church. Maureen Simons and Ann Adair-Austin will both be invested at a special diocesan ceremony on Saturday November 3rd. For the full list, go to http://www.vancouver.anglican.ca/news/odnw-nominees-for-2018
Meet the Salamis on Canada Day
On July 1st, God willing, the deanery supported Salami family from Syria will be joining us in worship at our 10 am service. Here is an opportunity to meet the new arrivals and celebrate a new beginning in their new home country. The Re-Sponse group is working towards a major fundraising event in early 2019 for future refugee families. If you would like to help, speak to Mary Lou Kyle or one of the clergy.
The Search for a New Priest for St. Johns
Applications close 4:30 pm on Thursday June 21st. The Bishop’s Advisory Committee on Appointments will then meet with St. Johns’ wardens to short-list for interviewing. The Parish Profile is here:

Office Computer Upgrade
This week the parish office purchased and installed a new computer. Files are being transferred and programs upgraded. Please let the office know of any changes to contact information or if you are not receiving emails or the weekly E-postle electronically and would like to. We want to keep you in the communication loop during this time of important transitions!
Stewardship Reflection
“Jesus said to him, ‘If you are able?! – All things can be done for the one who believes’.”
– Mark 9 :23
Think of a time when you weren’t sure whether you could do something, and were surprised when it actually got done. Where was God in that process? What do you need to trust God’s help with right now?
A shout out in thanks to Kelly for the clean-up of the front garden at the PMC. A volunteer to trim the hedges at the gate would be appreciated.
A.C.W. Wind Up Dinner
St. John’s A.C.W. will be hosting their Chinese Take-Out, ‘wind-up’ dinner on this coming Thursday, June 28th at 6 pm. The cost will be $15. All are welcome to attend. Please speak to Sue Hall.
Summer Groups around the Place
During the summer months, some groups take a break from meetings, others keep going, and there are new users of our church facilities. Please check with the office to book space for your gatherings so St. Johns can keep track of who is in what room when. We are in the process of setting up a calendar that will be available through the website, and would appreciate updated contact information from all representatives of groups that meet in the church, hall, or Parish Ministry Centre. Thank you.
