STEWARDSHIP WORKSHOP – MARCH 12TH, 9:00 AM

  Visioning/Stewardship work shop with Archbishop Douglas Hambidge March 12th, 2016 in the Church Hall. Gathering time at 9:00 a.m. and workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. Lunch break will be at 11:30 am. We request you bring finger food so we can share a light lunch. The workshop should finish up about 2:00 pm. A sign-up sheet is posted in the Church Hall.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ELEANOR BISHOP

    ELEANOR FLORENCE BISHOP passed away on Monday January 11th, 2016. Eleanor was an intricate part of St. John’s for many years and we be sincerely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her daughter The Rev. Anne Anchor and the entire family. A service in Thanksgiving for the life of Eleanor Bishop will be held at St. John’s on Friday , January 15th at 11:00 AM. Internment will take place at a later date. Please know all are welcome to join the family in the lower parish hall for a reception directly following the service.

Advent Wreath Making Workshop and Parish Potluck – Nov. 29th

EVERYONE WELCOME!!!!  Following the 10 AM service this Sunday (The first Sunday of Advent) there will be the annual Advent Wreath Making Workshop and Pot Luck. Please be sure to bring your own snipes or pruning shears and 5 candles. Oasis and Greenery will be provided.  Simple and easy to eat finger foods are great for sharing at the potluck!

Funeral Services for Dorothy Saunier will be held Wednesday September 30th at 1:00 at St. John the Apostle Anglican Church in Port Moody. Dorothy was a member of St. John’s for many years and was the recipient of the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster recently.

ONGOING FUNDRAISING EVENTS AT ST. JOHN’S

Recycling for  St. John’s   The total raised to date from recycling pop cans, plastic water and pop bottles, juice containers, wine, spirit and beer bottles is $6250.77. The funds received from this go towards the General Fund. Please continue to support this by bringing your bottles to the church for recycling, or by going directly to “Biggar Bottle Depot” on Kingsway Avenue in Port Coquitlam and crediting your refund to the St. John’s account. The recycling is picked up from the church on Wednesday’s by Juanita and her “helper” Myrna, who return them to the depot for us.   Thrifty Foods Smile Cards-Thank-you to everyone who has been participating with the Thrifty Foods “Smile Cards” to do your grocery shopping. Since this year’s fundraiser began on April 27th 2014 we have raised $1169.59 and will continue until April 25th of this year. If we are successful in being approved for another year then please hold onto the card as you will be able to keep using the same card. The funds this year were approved to be used to purchase and install the entry door into the PMC Basement and also to lay the tiles on the stage floor. For those who are unaware of this program but would like to help raise funds for the church, if you are Thrifty Foods shopper, know someone who is, or would be prepared to shop there, you can help by taking a “Smile Card”. This same card may be reloaded as many times as you wish during a fundraising period. “Smile Cards” could also be loaded and given as a gift for someone you need to buy something for! The Ladies of St. John’s Anglican Church invite you to the Annual Spring Tea from 2:00 pm- 4:00 PM in the Church Hall.
