NEW THIS WEEK

Stewardship Reflection

Mark 7: 24-37Prepared by Van. Dr. M. Pollesel

One of the things Jesus is able to do, with a variety of people, is to take care of them. A faithful steward is one who also takes care………of others, of self, of the environment, of ……. (you name it).

A Warm Welcome

To Mr. Kerry Baisley, the now retired Diocesan Indigenous Missioner, who will preach and to The Reverend Angus Stuart who is the celebrant at both services.

New roof for PMC
In June, we applied for the Community Prosperity Fund, from the Government of British Columbia which is working in partnership with the Vancouver Foundation. This fund is part of the Province of B.C.’s commitment to supporting the non-profit sector and empowering local communities to make local decisions.

We have now received approval and the grant will be used towards replacing the roof of the
PMC.

ACW Meeting on Thursday, 19 September at 12 noon

We will be holding a Pot Luck Luncheon before the meeting, so please bring a food item to share. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the hall for those wishing to attend.

Clothing Swap Meet on Saturday 21 September – 2 to 4 pm

Back again to Swap our clothes just in time for the change of season!  Textile waste is one of the top polluters and climate change problems, but as a community we can start being part of the solution instead of the problem. Let’s share and swap!

Come by to swap your good condition clothes you no longer wear, but someone else might!

Bring any of your pre-loved clothes that you no longer need or use but are too good to dispose of. These clothes should be ready to wear by someone else. In return, you can take as many items as you want from the swap. Clothing should be freshly clean, with no tears, rips, or stains. We are accepting all sizes in adults, children, and even infant clothes. Clothes can include accessories, scarves, mitts, and even costume jewelry!  Not accepting shoes.

*New this time! Accepting kitchen gadgets and small appliances in working condition.  Bring any of your unused or clean working condition gadgets you no longer use and are cluttering your kitchen!  There is a request for an olive pitter! ????

There is no charge for this event. If you are interested to participate, please register your interest with Ruby at peopleswardenstja.ca. Looking forward to building a community of sharing!

Framed Pictures in the Hall

The framed pictures are part of Sue Hall’s treasures.  If you would like one, please use the Donation jar and it’s yours to enjoy. Watch for changes each week.

Gala Dinner – Saturday 28 September 2024 @ 6 pm

The culmination of the 125th Anniversary celebrations will be a Gala Dinner, to be held in St Laurence Church, Coquitlam. Tickets priced at $75 are now on sale by Ann Adair-Austin, Sharon Cooper, and Bonnie SooChan. As we have a limited number, we will sell to our parishioners (and spouses) first, up until 13 Sept, after which it will be open to family members and friends.

Late Summer Community Event – Movie Night

The results from both paper and online surveys showed that most people favour Tuesday 10 September in regular (non-VIP) theatre. The next step will be “Which Movie”? Suggestions may go to Laurie Fox at
foxclan@me.com

Support for Access Youth continue ….

We are collecting flour and rice for the months of August and September.

Please place your donations by the font at the entrance of the church.

As a reminder, we are only collecting these 2 items.  Please do not bring in other items as this does not operate like a food bank.  They prepare meal kits for families to cook a meal together. They distribute required portions of ingredients to prepare the meal they are delivering.

For info on Access Youth and what they do, please log in to: https://accessyouth.org/youth-gour-made/

Vivian continues to be in good spirits while receiving immunology treatment every 3 weeks, till the end of 2025. She is now able to walk with a walker and she took a walk round the block this week.

She thanked everyone in the Parish for their prayers, love, support, flowers and nutritious food, and hope that we still remember what she looks like!
