INFORMATION
Vivian continues to be in good spirits while receiving immunology treatment every 3 weeks, till the end of 2025. She is now able to walk with a walker and took a walk round the block this week.
She thanked everyone in the Parish for their prayers, love, support, flowers and nutritious food, and hope that we still remember what she looks like!

Treasurer Sheila – July 22 to August 5
Rev Anne – August 4 to 16
Rector’s Warden Rich – Sept 19 to Oct 4
High Tea – Thursday August 15, 1 – 3 pm
One of the main fundraisers for the church, this event is for friends and family of the Parish. As it was a hit last year with the “Bring Your Own China”, we will be doing this again this year. We invite you to bring your personal teapots, cups & saucers, and 3 tier serving stands and these should be brought on the day of the tea. You are encouraged to “buy a table” of 4s, 6s or 8s for your family or besties.
Tickets are on sale at $40, and as it is limited to only 60 seats, you may want to get yours now from Antoinette at toni.woodman@shaw.ca or Sue Meredith at smeredith@shaw.ca
If anyone has 3 tier serving stands that we can borrow, it will be very much appreciated. Please contact Ferne mfernem@icloud.com or Ann at cannadairaustin@gmail.com

Bag Hunger … Ongoing till end of September
Access Youth, need our help. They are short of basic cooking staples and our Parish has committed to helping them. Show them you care with a donation of cooking oil (1 litre bottle) and/or salt.
We will run for June & July, and then we will switch to Flour and Rice for August and September.
Please pick up a brown paper bag at church to announce your pledge to support these families and bring it back with cooking oil and/or salt.

Joan Scott’s Memories
I was born in England in 1936 and was raised in the Church of England from Sunday School as a young child to playing the piano for Sunday worship during my teens. I married at 21 and converted to Catholicism as my future husband was Catholic and I was required to raise my children as Catholics. It was no big deal to me at the time, as I was, after all, worshipping the same God as always.
Skip ahead about 20 years by which time we had emigrated to Canada with our four children, my marriage was on the rocks and gradually I drifted away from the church altogether. When my son died in 1997 at the age of 30, my new partner suggested we start attending church again, and we chose St John’s as we lived in Port Moody and my eldest daughter had been married there. This little church looked so inviting on the outside and the welcome we received inside was equally heartwarming. To me, this was divine intervention because I felt that I was coming home.
This welcoming approach by the church and its congregation has allowed it to grow and thrive. In 2013 St. John’s merged with St Margaret’s of Scotland who brought in all their skills and ideas and a history to be proud of. The merger was successful right from the start.
St John’s was my redemption and, through all the years since I joined, has been my comfort, my joy and my source of good friends. During my active years I contributed some small measure of help where needed, including council secretary, ACW secretary, organizing the spring tea for a few years and help during communion services with counting, ushering and greeting. I have received so much more than I have given, have met such wonderful people and am eternally grateful for having been led to this place.
