NEW THIS WEEK

Stewardship Reflection

Mark 1: 21-28.  Prepared by Ven. Dr. Michael Pollesel

The actions of Jesus seem to have a remarkable effect, and “his fame began to spread”. What kind of effect do our actions, as stewards, have on those around us?

Thank You’s

To Rev Dr Angus Stuart, we  were so grateful to have you and Christine with us again in a challenging time in parish life.  Your pastoral gifts, demeanour, preaching gifts, and support especially throughout Advent and Christmas were a real blessing. We look forward to having you as Sunday fill-in in the future.

To Tony Lee for shovelling  the snow last week on the  church grounds, and making the  pathways accessible for users of the property.

Annual Vestry

Just a reminder to all ministry leaders that Annual Vestry reports are  to be submitted by Thursday, 1 February, 2024 to Janica at administrator@stja.ca

Treasurer’s  Note

A great big thank you to all parishioners for your hard work and generous hearts. Due to the monies raised at the bazaar and the extra donations at Christmas time, the last two months have been in the “black”. I am happy to say that at the end of the year, the deficit will only be around $10,000, instead of the projected $40,000, which is a great improvement over the last three years.

Diocesan ACW President, Kelly Bowman
4 February, 2024.  It is an annual tradition at St. John’s to celebrate our ACW on the first Sunday in February, the month it was formed. In this 125th Anniversary year, we have invited the  Diocesan ACW President, Kelly Bowman to come and give a presentation at the 8:30 and 10:00 services, on the work of the ACW.

St. Johns 125th Anniversary

Throughout this anniversary year, people of St. John’s will be asked to share what it means to be a part of this community of faith. This will be done in a two-to-three-minute vignette at each weekly service. We hope to hear stories of how they came to be at St. John’s, why they stayed and what keeps them here. These will then be shared weekly in the E-
