NEW THIS WEEK

Stewardship Reflection

Prepared by Rev. Dr. Michael Pollesel. Matthew 18:15-20

Some people say that they can’t see or find Jesus anywhere in their lives. In today’s gospel Jesus

reminds us that he will be found wherever two or three are gathered together in his name.Sounds like Jesus likes to be among company. How often do you gather with others “in his name?”

Guest Priest this Sunday

We are grateful to the Rev. Michael Deck who will serve as guest presider and preacher at both services this Sunday September 10,2023.

Community Garden – Help Needed

The garden is officially launched, but we still have some more work to complete before we work with the Native Education College consultants to accomplish our goal of enhancing areas around the garden beds with Native BC plants which would help in recovering the land to a more natural habitat for birds, insects or animals.
There is sod to be dug up from the cement walkways, move the sod to the side to build up the sloped area next to the fence before we can order bark mulch to cover the walkways between the boxes.

We are seeking anyone who is willing to help Karen & Jim Ebbett on Tuesday 9/12 and Wednesday 9/13 afternoons, and Thursday 9/14 morning. Please connect with Karen at karenebbett@gmail.com or text to 604-831-4360.

ACW Meeting

Wednesday 14 Sept at 12 noon

A light lunch will be provided, and the meeting will be held afterwards.

rage Sale

Saturday 23 September, 2023 10 am to 2 pm

It has been many years since we had a Garage Sale. We need to repurpose the basement of the PMC for better utilization, and thus decided on clearing ALL white elephant items. This is also in preparation for the Fall Bazaar where the White Elephant Stall will no longer exist.

For friends and family, tables may be rented at $30.

Should you have pre-loved and usable items that you wish to dispose, or donate, you may bring them to the church hall on Friday 22 September between 10 and 11.30 am.

Sign-up sheets to help set-up, and clearing are posted on the stage area of the hall.

Tri-Cities Winter Shelter (formerly Cold Wet Weather Mat program)

If you are interested in participating in this community outreach and are not able to attend the info meeting on Saturday September 9th – 9 to 11 am at St Laurence, please contact Sylvia Wallis (St. Laurence co-ordinator) at Sylviawallisccb@gmail.com and she can add you to the schedule on the dates and shift you would like to serve.

Anne Anchor is requesting five dates for making sandwiches and will provide a sign-up schedule for people to select from……

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation/Orange Shirt Day

We will be commemorating this on Sunday October 1, and encourage everyone to wear orange to church, in honor of the thousands of Survivors of residential schools.

HOW YOU CAN SERVE THE WORLD AROUND US

Helping Out with Children & Youth

We are looking for folks to help make our brainstormed ideas for children and youth spiritual formation a reality! We will be experimenting with fun, interactive activities for our younger members and visitors one Sunday a month beginning this September through December. If you’d be interested in lending a hand on one of these Sundays, please let Janica know at administrator@stja.ca and she will connect you with clergy.
