NEW THIS WEEK

Stewardship Reflection

Prepared by Ven. Dr. Michael Pollesel.        Matthew 22:34-46

There’s an order to these two commandments: love God first, and then love your neighbour AS you love yourself. The wise steward is the one who tries to obey and follow these each and every day of their lives. How are you doing?

Fall Bazaar – November 4 from 10 am to 2.30 pm

Thanks to so many for signing up to help.  In case you missed volunteering the sign up sheets will still be downstairs again this Sunday.  Everyone is welcome to come and join the party.

Hopefully everyone has their donation for the Raffle in by this weekend.  The drop off basket will still be near the upstairs entrance.  Any question can go to Ann at cannadairaustin@gmail.com.

Bake & Craft tables: We are always looking for more items for the bake & craft tables.  Amaze us with your many talents.

Any craft items, baked goods etc. for the Bazaar, can be dropped off at the church hall on Friday 3 November from 9am – 12pm.

We will be serving a soup lunch with tea/coffee for $8, and a muffin with tea/coffee for $5. Tickets for these will be at the door.

Above all, we look forward to seeing your smiling faces at the Bazaar.  Please come and bring your friends.

Please connect with Ferne at mfernem@icloud.com. If you have any questions.

Spring Street Community Kitchen
The Spring Street Community Kitchen will be hosting one last event in 2023 and that will be a “cookie jar” making party followed by Christmas caroling at St. John’s Anglican Church (Port Moody) on Saturday, December 9th at 3pm. MORE details to come about how you can contribute to this event. Cookie jars and proceeds will be donated to the SFU Campus Ministry which will host food pantries for students in the new year. We are going to need supplies and volunteers to help us before we open the doors to all who want to purchase jars and sing, so please save the date and help us make this event a success!

INFORMATION

Pastoral Visiting Ministry

Following a recent review of the Pastoral Ministry at St. John’s, and in view of our rector Vivian’s current health situation, Joanne Walton has kindly agreed to continue to oversee this ministry in coordination with our interim priest Angus Stuart.  We are also grateful to Alma Oldenburg who is stepping away from coordinating this ministry with Joanne but is continuing as a member of the team.  There are currently eleven individuals involved in this ministry, including three new volunteers, who keep in touch with parishioners in need of such care via phone, Zoom, and in person.  The team will be getting together every couple of months after the 10am service on a Sunday to check-in and review needs and support one another.  This is a wonderful ministry at St. John’s that characterizes the loving spirit within our community where much informal care of one another continues daily.  If you or another parishioner you know would benefit from a visit, a phone call, or any help the team can offer please do get in touch with Joanne Walton at terrywalton@telus.net or our interim priest Angus Stuart at interim@stja.ca  If you feel you might be interested in joining this team, please connect with Joanne or Angus for more information.
