NEW THIS WEEK:

Stewardship Reflection

Matthew 9:35 – 10:23. Prepared by the Ven. Dr. Michael Pollesel.

What humble beginnings for Christianity—twelve people who went out, equipped with their marching orders from Jesus. And look at the impact those twelve had on the rest of the world! How often do you hear, “We don’t have enough” (people, money, space—you name it!). Today’s gospel teaches us that great things can and do come from very little—something a faithful steward needs to keep in mind.

Pastoral Note – Ron Barnes

As announced at last Sunday’s worship services, we regret to inform you that former St. John’s Rector, the Rev. Dr. Ronald Barnes, died last Saturday in Kelowna. We pray that he will rest in God’s peace. Please remember to keep Ron’s wife Beverley and their wider family in your prayers at this time. Sympathy cards may be sent to the family via the parish office. The Diocesan notice can be found here.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Kelowna, on Wednesday June 28, at 2pm. The service is planned to be livestreamed – information will be available soon.

Pastoral Note – Nicholas Fung (updated)

Nicholas Fung’s funeral service will take place at St. John’s this Saturday, June 17, at 1pm, and will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.

The Zoom connection for the service can be found on our parish website

Please continue to hold May, Nigel, and their wider family in your prayers in this most difficult time. Sympathy cards may be sent to the family via the parish office.

All-Ages Chat this Sunday (June 18)

Our June All-Ages Chat will be a little earlier this month so that we can focus on National Indigenous Day of Prayer. Look forward to seeing you, whether in-person or on Zoom, at our 10am service this Sunday, June 18.

Of course, everyone of all ages is always welcome at worship each week, but every month (often, but not always, the last Sunday), we have something devoted to nurturing the faith of our younger members.

Music Director Transition – June 25 Celebration (updated)

LaRee Mohr will be resigning as Music Director at St. John’s in a few weeks. She has served in this role for well over 12 years, and we will miss her dearly. Her last day with us in this position will be Sunday, June 25, and we will be thanking her for her ministry at the 10am service and at a special coffee hour afterward.

Rector Away

Vivian will be away on spiritual retreat, followed by a few days’ vacation, beginning this Monday, June 19 and returning on Tuesday, June 27. Please connect with Georgette at administrator@stja.ca or Rich at rectorswarden@stja.ca for time-sensitive parish matters during this time.

For pastoral emergencies, to be connected to the on-call priest, please call Rich on his cell phone.

We are grateful to the Rev. April Stanley who will serve as supply clergy next Sunday June 25.
