Wardens’ Note

Our contributions are at a lower level than in the past. We’re writing to ensure that everyone is aware of the current financial situation we are facing. Please take some time to prayerfully discern whether you are able to contribute a little more to assist the parish and the wider community as we follow our mission.

Parish Giving

Giving can be made through e-transfer directly to the church account, please contact Ruby at peopleswarden@stja.ca or Sheila at treasurer@stja.ca for more details.

Garbage, Recycling and Green Waste Bins

Thank you to those of you who have put up your hand for this. We are very appreciative of your willingness to keep the church property clean and safe.

INFORMATION

Stewardship Letter

A stewardship letter was emailed, and mailed to those without emails on file, last week. We invite you to return your Financial Pledge Forms by All Saints’ Sunday, November 6, and pray about how you might give of your time and talents in 2023. You may also download the letter and pledge form from our website.

The Ballantyne Project Donation Drive (UPDATED)

Council approved sending $100.00 to this project to help purchase basic clothing needs for children of the Lytton First Nation School after losing much due to the forest fire in that area last year.

Church Pews Adjustment

As more people participate again in in-person worship, and as we anticipate needing a little more space with the reintroduction of communion wine in a few weeks, we are experimenting a little with the layout of pews in the sanctuary. Check out our new, improved wider center aisle this Sunday! Feedback to Ruby at peopleswarden@stja.ca

Deanna’s Departure

Our Office Administrator Deanna Lemke will be leaving us, as she moves out of the area. Her last day will be Thursday, Nov. 10. We are in the process of arranging for temporary office coverage upon her departure.

We are so grateful for Deanna’s wonderful presence and her work supporting all that goes on at St. John’s, and we wish her God’s blessings in her new home. She wanted to let everyone know: “I have enjoyed working with such kind people and am grateful for my time with St. John the Apostle.”

Ministry Conference with Sarah Bessey

Inlet United Church invites you to “Bold Witness, Relentless Grace”, an inspiring, late-autumn 3-day conference from November 4-6, featuring Canadian writer and acclaimed author Sarah Bessey and other wonderful ministry leaders. People will gather in-person at Inlet, and they will livestream the conference from Calgary. For registration and more information visit the Inlet website

A Celebration of Unity – All Saints Together!

A service of worship, conversation, and fellowship will be held at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, 2888 Delahaye Dr., Coquitlam on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2:15 – 4:15 pm. This event is being organised by the Lutheran and Roman Catholic Church, and prayers will be led by Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB (RCAV), and Bishop Kathy Martin (ELCIC). All are welcome.

(Poster is on the notice board in the Hall)

COVID Protocols

We ask that all still remain vigilant in regards to COVID infections. By staying home if you are unwell and letting the clergy or wardens know if you have tested positive, we will avoid further spread in our community. Masks are required at worship.
